Making the transition to designing courseware for e-learning, when you are not familiar with it, seems like a scarey proposition. Even the most seasoned stand-up trainer can be intimidated by what they see others doing. This is the time to share your fears and concerns: call it therapy for e-less trainers. Debi Kostyun has seen the reluctance and refusal of great trainers to make the leap with her employees and trainers from other companies and provides some simple, low tech solutions, methodologies and considerations for the timid or novice e-learning leader. This workshop focuses on understanding simple theories of design (ADDIE), along with simple synchronous and asynchronous technology and techniques to make online course development as interactive, and sometimes even more learner focused than in person training. It is a time to use your current expertise and explore how to transition it to a new medium.
Student Take-Aways
- New e-learners will understand the changes in roles of the instructor and learner and how to model training to fit those needs
- Not-so-new learners will reinforce current design knowledge and add to knowing what works and doesn't in e-learning.
- Everyone gets a guided tour through the jungle of terminology, what it means and what matters.
